그것은 기적(miracle)이었다. 인도네시아 술라웨시주의 대규모 조림사업과 서민주택 건설 사업에 국내 최초로 투자회사 PT.INC(INDONESIA NATURAL CORE)가 기적과 같은 성과를 냈다. PT.INC는 10월 26일 그랜드 워커힐 서울 컨벤션센터에서 기자회견을 열어 술라웨시주 2만 5000헥타르 산림에 대해 30년간 벌목을 통한 조림사업과 술라웨시에 지진피해를 입은 서민들에게 조코 위도도(Joko Widodo) 대통령의 공약 사업인 서민주택 100만호를 짓는 사업 중 우선적으로 1만채를 짓는 사업을 정식계약하고, 밝은 세상 만들기 LED사업에도 참여하여 2만개의 LED 설치 사업에도 정식 합의했다고 전했다. 산림 자원이 풍부한 인도네시아 술라웨시에 국내 어느 기업도 해내지 못한 성과를 PT.INC가 만들면서 업계에서는 큰 반향을 일으키고 있다. PT.INC 김효찬 대표를 만나 지난 성과와 미래청사진을 들어보았다.

PT.INC(INDONESIA NATURAL CORE)는 인도네시아 자카르타를 거점으로 2015년 5월 설립된 투자회사로 현재 인도네시아 진출을 희망하는 다양한 기업들을 돕는 역할을 하고 있다. 오랜 시간동안 인도네시아 국민정서를 이해하기 위해 정보를 수집하고 인적네트워크를 구성했으며 이슬람 문화 관련 법령까지 연구하여 많은 기업이 더욱 안정적으로 사업을 진행할 수 있도록 아낌없는 지원을 하고 있다.
인도네시아 사업에 정통한 PT.INC는 2018년 8월14일 인도네시아 술라웨시 정부와 PT.INC의 계열사인 PT.IMK가 30년간의 벌목과 조림을 통한 화력발전소와 바이오메스 우드펠릿(wood pellet) 생산을 협력하기로 정식 계약을 하며 업계를 놀라게 했다. 우드펠릿은 제2의 대체연료 에너지로 불리고 있으며, 나무를 잘게 가루로 만든 후 담배 필터 크기로 응축시켜 열량을 높인 것을 말한다. 벌목사업을 통해 생산할 수 있는 우드펠릿의 양은 연간 45만톤, 무려 1500억원에 해당하는 양이다. PT.INC는 생산된 우드펠릿을 국내 화력발전소는 물론 일본, 중국 등에도 수출할 계획이며 에너지생산기업과도 구체적인 협의과정에 있다. 뿐만 아니라 PT.INC 김효찬 대표는 올해 2월 인도네시아 노동주택부 장관과의 면담을 시작으로 업무협약을 체결하고 “인도네시아 조코 위도도(Joko Widodo) 대통령의 공약 사업인 1년에 서민주택 100만호를 짓는 건설 사업에 정식계약했으며, 우선적으로 1만채를 짓는 사업에 합의했다”고 전했으며, “밝은 세상 만들기 LED사업에도 동참하여 (주)포메링, (주)밝은세상과 업무협약을 하고 2만개의 LED 설치 사업에도 정식 합의했다”고 강조했다.

국내최초 인도네시아 술라웨시주 조림사업 계약체결
엄청난 산림자원이 있는 인도네시아 술라웨시에 우리나라의 어느 기업도 해내지 못한 성과를 PT.INC(INDONESIA NATURAL CORE)가 이루어낸 비결은 무엇일까. 기자는 먼저 PT.INC 김효찬 대표에게 술라웨시주 조림사업과 서민주택 건설 사업의 성과를 만들 수 있었던 비결을 물었다. 
“바이오메스사업은 계약 체결까지 2년 6개월이 걸렸고, 무려 5년의 시간을 착실하게 준비했습니다. 누구나 고개를 저을 정도로 어려운 일이었기 때문에 오히려 오기가 생겼고,
‘불가능하다’, ‘절대 안된다’는 말을 들을 때마다 ‘분명히 된다’는 생각으로 도전하여 결국은 해냈습니다. 우리의 일은 단순한 이윤추구가 아니라, 인도네시아와 한국이 함께 발전할 수 있는 건설적인 제안을 하는 것입니다. 그리고 인도네시아 정부의 문을 수없이 두드리는 과정에서 관련 법률과 행정도 완벽하게 이해하게 되면서 마침내 남다른 성취가 이루어졌습니다. 앞으로 이 사업이 성공하면 분명 많은 한국 기업들이 더 손쉽게 인도네시아로 들어올 수 있을 것입니다. 이를 통해 양국이 발전하고 한국의 이미지가 더 좋아진다면, 이것만으로도 만족할만한 성과라고 생각합니다.”
김효찬 대표는 이 계약을 성사시키기 위해 회사가 있는 자카르타에서 남동 술라웨시까지 비행기로 3시간30분 거리를 무려 80번이나 왕복하면서 술라웨시의 160명의 각지역의 면장들을 찾아가 한분 한분 설득하는 수고를 마다하지 않았다. 그 결과 지역주민들을 95% 고용하는 조건으로 계약을 이끌어냈고, 총투자금액은 우리 돈 약1200억원~1400억원 규모에 이르는 성과를 만들어냈다.

한국과 인도네시아를 잇는 가교가 되겠다
인도네시아 술라웨시주의 대규모 조림사업과 서민주택 건설 사업에 국내 최초로 투자회사 PT.INC(INDONESIA NATURAL CORE)가 성공적인 성과를 낸 것은 결코 우연이 아니다. 김효찬 대표는 오늘의 성과를 위해 15년 이상 인도네시아에서 기반을 만들며 성공적인 사업을 준비해왔기 때문이다.  김 대표는 2001년 11월부터 IT전문기업으로 인도네시아에 진출했다. 처음엔 인도네시아 문화를 몰라서 고생을 했던 시기도 있었지만, 사업이 궤도를 잡으면서 점차 종합무역을 지향했다. 김 대표는 인도네시아 발리에서 한인회 총무를 맡았고, 명예 영사직까지 수행하며 현지 봉사활동은 물론 한인들을 지원하고 돕는 역할까지 맡았다. 그리고 여러 가지 행정업무와 법률업무 그리고 다양한 사례들을 접하며 점차 인도네시아 문화와 환경에 정통하게 되었다.
“인도네시아와 한국인에게 도움을 주는 일이었기 때문에 기쁜 마음으로 열심히 봉사했고, 이때 경험한 다양한 사례들을 접하며 점차 인도네시아에 눈을 뜨게 되었습니다. 물론 인도네시아에 수 십년 전부터 정착하신 1세대 한인 선배님들에 비하면 부족하지만 앞으로도 꾸준히 노력하겠습니다.”
김 대표의 꿈은 한국과 인도네시아의 튼튼한 가교가 되는 것이다. 그래서 지금도 사업적인 부분은 물론 인적 네트워크가 필요한 부분에서도 다양한 컨설팅을 하고 있다고 한다.

강인한 에너지를 가진 진실한 CEO

기자는 김효찬 대표를 인터뷰하며 ‘어떤 일을 시작하든 반드시 된다는 확신 90퍼센트, 되게 할 수 있다는 자신감 10퍼센트 외에 안 될 수도 있다는 회의나 불안은 단 1퍼센트도 끼워 넣지 않는다’는 고 정주영 현대그룹 창업회장의 말씀을 떠올렸다. 그만큼 김 대표는 진솔하면서도 강인한 에너지가 응축된 CEO였으며, 국내 어느 기업도 이루어내지 못한 성과를 만들어낸 집념의 경영인이었다. 한국과 인도네시아를 잇는 가교가 되어 양국의 발전을 견인할 PT.INC와 김효찬 대표의 미래모습을 감히 기대해본다.이양은 기자

For coexistence and co-prosperity of Korea and Indonesia

It was a miracle. For the first time in Korea, investment company PT.INC(INDONESIA NATURAL CORE) has achieved miraculous results in the large-scale Afforestation Project in Sulawesi, Indonesia, and Housing Construction Project for ordinary people in Indonesia. PT.INC held a press conference at the Grand Walkerhill Seoul Convention Center on Oct. 26 said that it formally close a deal with Afforestation Project through logging for 30 years of 25,000 hectares of forests in Sulawesi, and project to first construct 10,000 houses of president Joko Widodo's pledge, one million housing construction project for common people, for the people damaged by the earthquake in Sulawesi, and also participated in LED Project to create bright world, and formally agreed on the installation of 20,000 LEDs. PT.INC is making a big impact in the industry as it makes the achievements that none of domestic companies have done in Sulawesi, Indonesia, which is rich in forest resources. We met PT.INC CEO Kim Hyo-chan and listened to his past achievements and future blueprints.

PT.INC(INDONESIA NATURAL CORE) is an investment company based in Jakarta, Indonesia, established in May 2015, and is helping various companies which want to enter Indonesia now. For a long time, it has gathered information and organized a network of people to understand the Indonesian people's emotions, and also studied the laws and regulations related to Islamic culture and provided support to many companies in order to make their business more stable.
Well informed in Indonesian business, PT.INC, has surprised the industry by signing a formal cooperate contract between Indonesian Sulawesi Government and PT.IMK, affiliate of PT.INC, for thermal power plants and production of biomass wood pellets through 30 years of logging and afforestation on August 14th, 2018. Wood pellets are called secondary alternative fuel energy, which means that the wood is finely pulverized and then condensed to a cigarette filter size to increase heat value. The amount of wood pellets that can be produced through the logging industry is 450,000 tons per year, or amount corresponding to about 150 billion won. PT.INC plans to export wood pellets to Japan and China as well as domestic thermal power plants, and is also in the process of specific consultation with energy production companies. In addition, PT.INC CEO, Kim Hyo-chan met with Minister of Labor and Housing of Indonesia in February this year and concluded a business agreement and announced "we formally closed a deal with Indonesia President Joko Widodo’s pledge, one million housing construction project for ordinary people per year and agreed to build 10,000 housing first,” and stressed “we also participated in LED Project to create bright world, made Business agreement with POMELING CO., LTD. and BRIGHT WORLD CO., LTD. and formally agreed on the installation of 20,000 LEDs”

Signed afforestation project contract in Sulawesi, Indonesia, first in Korea
Indonesia Sulawesi with tremendous forest resources! What is the secret of PT.INC(INDONESIA NATURAL CORE)'s achievements that no Korean company has done? The reporter first asked PT.INC CEO, Kim Hyo-chan the secret that he was able to make the results of Sulawesi afforestation project and commoner housing construction project.
"It took two years and six months for the biomass business to be signed, and we have steadily prepared the time for five years. It was hard enough for anyone to shake his head on, so I came up with unyielding spirit and whenever I heard 'Impossible' or 'Absolutely no', I challenged myself with the idea of 'Absolutely yes' and eventually I did it. Our work is not merely a pursuit of profit, but a constructive proposal for Indonesia and Korea to develop together. And in the process of countlessly knocking on the doors of the Indonesian government, we fully understood the law and administration and finally achieved a remarkable achievement. If this project succeeds in the future, it is clear that many Korean companies will be able to enter Indonesia more easily. If the two countries develop and the image of Korea becomes better through this, I think it is a satisfactory achievement.” CEO, Kim Hyo-chan, visited 160 regional heads of Sulawesi and did not hesitate to persuade one by one, flying 80 times the distance of 3 hours and 30 minutes by plane, from Jakarta where the company is located to Southeast Sulawesi. As a result, he obtained the contract on the condition that 95% of the local residents were hired, and made a result of the total investment amounted to about 120 billion to 140 billion won.

It is no coincidence that for the first time in Korea, PT.INC(INDONESIA NATURAL CORE), investment company, has successfully achieved large-scale afforestation project and commoner housing construction project in Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is because CEO, Kim Hyo-chan, has prepared a successful business while creating a foundation in Indonesia for more than 15 years for today's performance. Mr. Kim entered the Indonesian market as an IT specialist in November 2001. At first, there was a time when he did not know the Indonesian culture and suffered, but as the business got on track, he gradually headed for a general trade. Mr. Kim served as secretary of the Korean Association in Bali, Indonesia, and also served as honorary ambassador, assisting and helping local Koreans as well as local volunteering. He has become acquainted with Indonesian culture and environment by getting contact with a lot of administrative, and legal works and various cases. “I was very happy to eagerly serve because it was to help Indonesia and Koreans, and then I have encountered various cases, gradually opening my eyes to Indonesia. Of course, I am not enough compared to the first-generation Korean seniors who settled in Indonesia decades ago, but I will continue to do my best. "
Mr. Kim's dream is to be a strong bridge between Korea and Indonesia. So, he is doing various consulting even in the part where the human network is necessary as well as in the business part.

True CEO with tough energy
"My PT.INC(INDONESIA NATURAL CORE) management philosophy is 'Start-Course-Results'. After deriving the results with all my might, I start to challenge again. It is not ending because good results came out, but it is to pioneer new field again. The constant challenge and achievement of PT.INC began with the ''Start-Course-Results' process. I think that there is nothing that would not succeed in the world if we had such a mindset."
It is said that whenever Mr. Kim faced a difficult obstacle, he challenged himself with the idea of 'Absolutely will' without thinking 1% of negative thought, 'Will it work?' and made today’s achievement. PT.INC is company based in Indonesia and plans to run a branch in Seoul next year.

Interviewing CEO, Kim Hyo-chan, reporter recalled late Chairman Chung Joo-young, the founder of Hyundai Group, saying, "I do not even put 1 percent of doubt or anxiety ‘it may not be done,’ except for 90 percent of conviction ‘it must be done’ and 10 percent of confidence ‘it can be done’ whatever work I start.” As such, Mr. Kim was a CEO who was gentle but condensed with a strong energy, and an enthusiastic management executive who made a result that no other domestic company could achieve. I daringly expect the future of PT.INC and CEO Kim Hyo-chan, who will lead the development of the two countries as a bridge between Korea and Indonesia.
